VietNamNet Bridge – The official website of the Miss World beauty pageant (missworld.tv) and the website specialized on beauty contests in the world – Global Beauties – have introduced Duong Truong Thien Ly, the second runner-up of the Miss Universe Vietnam 2008, as Vietnamese contestant at Miss World 2008.However, Elite Vietnam, which holds the rights to bring Vietnamese competitors to Miss World, has not released an official announcement about this.
The Miss World pageant will take place from November 16 to December 22 in Johannesburg, South Africa. Some 107 countries and territories registered to participate.
However, Pham Dinh Thang, a senior official from the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism, said the Ministry on Tuesday received Elite Vietnam’s request to send Duong Truong Thien Ly to this beauty contest.
Last month, Elite Vietnam submitted three nominees for the Miss World 2008 pageant to the Ministry for consideration, including Miss Universe Vietnam Nguyen Thuy Lam, the first runner-up Vo Hoang Yen and the second runner-up Duong Truong Thien Ly.
Thien Ly is now a second-year student at the Saint Mary University, USA. She is 1.69m tall, with body measurement of 88-64-94
Besides the second runner-up title at Miss Universe Vietnam 2008, she won several prizes at a recent international model contest in New York this August.
